Maoists loot WFP food grains in Kailali

The Maoist rebels have looted two trucks of food grains from far-western district of Kailali on Saturday, reports said.

“We have also heard about the incident but don’t have the details,” officials at the District Police Office, Kailali, told Nepalnews over phone Sunday afternoon.

The food grains belonging to World Food Programme (WFP) was being transported to Doti from Kailali to be distributed under the Food for Work programme.

WFP officials could not be reached for comments.

The rebels had looted food grains-- meant for the Food for Work programme--  in huge quantities from far western districts of Dadeldhura and Achham, among others, in the past.

In a separate incident, security forces are yet to recover six passenger buses abducted by the rebels even after four days. The buses, along with their drivers,  were seized by Maoists on Thursday and forcibly taken them  towards B. P. Nagar from Sahajpur of Kailali.

“We are facing difficulty to launch search operations as the Maoists have set up obstacles along the highway,” police sources said. nepalnews.com pd Dec 12 04
