140 Udaypur Cement Factory workers abducted The Maoists abducted at least 140 employees of Udaypur Cement Factory in Udaypur district Tuesday. According to reports, a group of armed Maoists took away the workers from the factory premises at Jaljale at around 9.30 AM. The employees were about to start their duties when the Maoists arrived at the scene. Among the abducted, 12 are officers. The rebels, reports said, have said that they would free the workers
within 3-4 days after involving them at a program of the All Nepal National Trade Union, an affiliate to the

News Four parties announce fresh stir The four agitating political parties Tuesday announced fresh protest programs from June 23 to 28. The parties announced this after a meeting of top leaders of the alliance in the capital. The four agitating political parties have agreed to suspend their Ratna Park centered protest programs in the capital from June 29 till August 31 in view of the rainy days ahead. The parties have agreed to decentralize the protests to the districts. From June 23 to 28, torch rallies, burning effigies of ‘regression’, seminar on ‘Peace Human Rights and Democracy’ will be held in the capital. In the same vein, a mass rally will be organized in Biratnagar, Butwal, Nepalgunj and Birjung where the top leaders of the four agitating parties will address the gathering on July 10. News The Maoists have hacked a Dalit youth to death in Selang VDC in Sindhupalchowk district. According to reports, Hem Bahadur Nepali, 17, a resident of Salang’s Syaule village who was abducted on June 12 was found dead in a dismembered state at Chautara Tuesday morning. Nepali was working as a peon at the District Police Office. However, two other youths abducted along with Nepali reportedly fled from Maoist captivity. Meanwhile, the Maoists exploded a bomb at the Regional Accounts Office in Pokhara at around 10.30 AM Tuesday. Three office rooms, furniture and documents were destroyed in the blast, reports said. News Nepali parents on hunger strike, demand release of trapped children Two Nepalis, whose daughters are being held in ‘The Great Roman Circus’, have joined Indian human rights activist Kailash Satyarthi in his hunger strike on Monday. They are demanding immediate release of all the children working in the circus, which operates in Uttar Pradesh, India. The proprietors of the circus have reportedly issued death threats to the rights activists and parents. Most of them were present during a failed raid to rescue the girls on June 15. Since then, local police have detained four Nepalis, whose children are in the circus and are demanding Rs 100,000 for their release. Detained along with the parents, is Nita Lama – the only girl rescued from the circus. Refusals to rescue the girls and attempts to hinder all attempts in anyway possible have raised suspicions that the local police and the Gonda district magistrate are in league with the circus owners. Meanwhile, people from various walks of life in India, including Nandita Das, a Bollywood actress, participated in protests rallies held in New Delhi on Monday demanding an immediate release of the children. The protestors also expressed solidarity to Satyarthi’s campaign. News Over 30 passengers still missing Despite rescue efforts from security forces, over 30 passengers are still missing from the bus that fell into Trishuli river on Sunday afternoon. According to reports, the bus was heading to Sarlahi from the capital, when a traffic jam along the highway stopped the bus and stalled the engine. In an effort to start it, some passengers tried pushing the bus when the engine came alive and before the driver could stomp on the brakes, the bus plunged into the river. News The Supreme Court Monday asked Pyar Jung Thapa, chief of the army staff to follow the court’s orders and respect human rights. According to reports, the apex court also asked the army to disclose the position of Kamal KC who was arrested about three months ago. KC was accused of being a Maoist collaborator and since his detainment there has been no news about him. He is most likely being held in Bhairabnath gan at Maharajgunj. The barrack has turned down all SC orders to disclose KC’s whereabouts. Despite being caught red-hand, he was acquitted by justices Krishna Kumar Verma and Baliram Kumar. ‘Terrorist’ tag on Maoist students withdrawn The government has withdrawn the ‘terrorist’ tag imposed on All Nepal National Independent Student Union – Revolutionary (ANNISU-R) reports said Tuesday. The withdrawal comes after ANNISU-R had agreed to end the indefinite educational strike, called by the organisation from June 6th onwards. News Security forces Monday recovered six bodies of Maoists killed during a clash at Dhankhola in Dang district on Saturday. Reports said the bodies of the militants were found buried some five kilometers away from the incident site. The local people have said they counted at least 25 injured militants being taken away by their comrades, reports said. The district committee of the CPN-Maoist issuing a statement yesterday had claimed that only three rebels were killed in the clash.
