The death toll in Bhojpur clashes has reached 48, reports said Friday. "Of them, 32 were security personnel and 16 Maoists rebels." Security forces on Thursday recovered three bodies of government troops and six bodies of Maoists, the reports said. Earlier on Wednesday, 29 bodies of security personnel and 10 bodies of Maoists were recovered. Ten more security personnel were reported missing until Friday morning. Of them, six were police and four soldiers. Meanwhile, a report by Rajdhani daily said Maoists have detained the 10 missing members of the government troops as the "prisoners of war". The daily, quoting a local Maoist leader Prakash, said, the 10 security personnel are under the Maoists' custody. "We are treating the 10 detainees as per the Geneva Convention," Prakash said, according to the daily. "We will soon hand them over to our party's high command." The Royal Nepal Army has already confirmed the disappearance of the 10 in the Bhojpur clashes that occurred on Tuesday night-Wednesday morning. News Govt. bans strikes in essential services The government exercising its powers under the Essential Services Act 2014 has banned strikes in various essential services, one of them being transport services, RSS said, quoting a Home Ministry statement. The services in which the strikes have been prohibited include postal, telegraph and telephone services, transport services by air, land or water for moving passengers and goods, the news agency said. Likewise, strikes are prohibited in works such as guarding of airports and aircraft, the running and repair of such facilities, and services concerning moving, depositing, taking out or storing of goods at government warehouses, airports and railway stations, the agency further said. Similarly, strikes are banned in any government service concerning the mint and government presses, the production, storing or distribution of arms and ammunition or other military equipment, communications services, electricity, drinking water, tourist accommodation, motels, hotels, restaurants and resorts. The explosion occurred at 12.30 on the Mahendra Highway when five army trucks were heading towards Kathmandu from the divisional headquarters in Itahari, Sunsari. Soldiers Gyanendra Adhikari and Pukh Bahadur Thapa were killed while seven others injured. The injured soldiers have been brought to Kathmandu after first aid in a local hospital, reports said. News Maoists declare blockade in 13 district headquarters The Maoists have announced blockade in 13 district headquarters of Narayani, Gandaki, Dhoulagiri, Lumbini and Gandaki zones, reports Thursday said. A Nepal Samacharpatra report said three Maoist-affiliated organizations namely Tamuwan National Liberation Front, Magarat National Liberation Front and Madhesi National Liberation Front have issued a joint statement declaring blockades in the district headquarters of Chitwan, Nawalparasi, Rupandehi, Palpa, Syanja, Kaski, Tananun, Parwat, Lamjung, Gorkha, Gulmi, Myagdi and Manang. News Under-14 football tournament from March 5 The late King Tribhuvan Memorial Inter-District Development Committee (DDC) Chairman Cup Under-14 National Football tournament is going to be held from March 5-March 15, the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) stated in the press conference on Wednesday. The tournament will provide the platform to junior footballers from 39 districts to showcase their talent. The matches will be played under the league and knock-out system at four different venues in the capital.
