News Eight Nepalis arrested for poaching Special Security Bureau (SSB) of India arrested eight Nepalis, including two security personnel for poaching, on Tuesday. They were arrested while hunting in the Indian forest. The SSB team recovered two 303 rifles, 100 rounds of bullets, one Nil Gai and a tractor with Indian registration plates. District Police Office, Nawalparasi confirmed the arrest. Assistant Sub-Inspector Yug Dhoj Khadka is among the killed. Fighting started when dozens of armed Maoists stormed the police post set up for the security of the bridge above Bhada River at around 2.30pm. News The five agitating parties' informal meeting on Thursday decided to intensify their ongoing anti-'regression' stir despite the King's initiatives for a dialogue. "Our protests will continue with expansion," said UML General Secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal, who participated in the meeting held at the residence of Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala. Nepal said dialogue with the King and the parties' movement will go on simultaneously. "There is no question of suspending our movement, even if the King calls us for an audience," he said. NC spokesman Arjun Narsingh KC, meanwhile, made it clear, the five parties have not received any invitation for a royal audience, so far. The five parties staged a sit-in protest at Ratna Park in the afternoon where hundreds of government employees also joined in, demanding the restoration of democracy. The government employees who took to streets announced that they would not join their office until the demands of the protesters are met. Similarly, students affiliated to the Nepali Congress (Democratic) which is waging a separate movement demanding the restoration of the then Sher Bahadur Deuba-led government staged demonstrations in the capital this afternoon. The students took out a ‘whistle rally’ from Putalisadak which marched past Exhibition Road, Bhadrakali, New Road, Ason and concluded at Ratna Park. The procession was led by central leaders Bijay Gachhedar, Prakashman Singh and Kishor Singh Rathor. Meanwhile, a meeting of seven student organizations supporting five agitating political parties today announced fresh protest programs today. News Maoists kill two security men in Bardia At least two security personnel were reported killed in an exchange of fire with Maoists at Bhawapur area in Bardia district Thursday afternoon. Reports from the district said back-up forces have been sent to the area from the district headquarters as fighting is still continuing. Reports of casualties on the Maoists are yet to come. Meanwhile, the Maoists torched a passenger bus and a truck on the East-west highway in Morang district this morning. News Government personnel to continue protests The Nepal Government Employees Organisation, expressing solidarity in the five parties anti ‘regression’ protests said that it will come out with new programs if ‘regression is not corrected’. The umbrella organisation of the government employees had organized rallies against ‘regression’ on Tuesday and Wednesday. Police had fired teargas shells to disperse the agitators and arrested over a dozen of activists. Talking to Nepalnews, Bhola Pokharel, General Secretary of the Nepal Government Employees Organisation said, “There will be a felicitation program Thursday afternoon for the 17 employees who were arrested on Tuesday and Wednesday's protests. An anti-'regression' gathering will be organized where seniors from various trade unions will deliver speeches.” The arrested employees have been released by the government.
