UML meet concludes, decides to go for stir
The ninth meeting of the CWC of the major opposition, CPN-UML, concluded Sunday deciding to form a 27-member Central People’s Movement Committee (CPMC) under the leadership of party General Secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal.
The fortnight-long meeting, which began on August 15, included party standing committee member Bam Dev Gautam as deputy-coordinator of the CPMC.
Moreover, the meeting gave responsibility of in-charge of the Valley Coordination Committee to Ishwor Pokharel and joint in-charge to Krishna Gopal Shrestha. Similarly, the meeting appointed Ashok Rai, Bharat Mohan Adhikari, Mahendra Pandey, Bachaspati Devkota, Ranadhoj Kangdangwa as the chiefs of East Region Coordination Committee, Planning and Research Department, Intellectual Department, Technical Department and Additional Department respectively.
The meeting also formed a committee under the coordination of politburo member KP Oli to prepare a paper regarding democratisation within the party.
Likewise, the meeting passed a proposal calling for provisions whereby children can acquire their citizenship certificate from the mother’s name and formed a Central Advisory Committee. nepalnews.com pd Aug 29 05
