RCCC files case against former minister Parajuli
The Royal Commission on Corruption Control (RCCC) has filed a case against former minister Rajiv Parajuli on charge of amassing huge property disproportionate to his sources of income.
Talking to Nepalnews, spokesman of the RCCC Prem Raj Karki said the Commission has filed a case at its own `ijlas’ (court) charging Parajuli of amassing property worth over Rs 15.3 million through illegal means.
The proceedings on the case started from Monday, he said.
Parajuli had served as member in the cabinet led by former premier Sher Bahadur Deuba.
Constituted by His Majesty King Gyanendra after taking over powers in February this year, the Commission has been empowered so as to investigate, prosecute and hand out judgment on cases of corruption.
The Commission has also served a notice to former minister and UML leader, Bhim Rawal, to be present before in connection with the investigation on leasing of a China South West Airlines plane for the state-owned Royal Nepalese Airlines some six years ago.
The UML has flayed the RCCC’s decision.
Seven opposition parties including UML have been demanding dissolution of the controversial Commission. nepalnews.com by Aug 29 05
