Officials prevent Indian leaders from meeting Deuba
Officials have prevented a team of Indian leaders from meeting detained former Prime Minister and president of Nepali Congress (Democratic) Sher Bahadur Deuba.
Dr Narayan Khadka, a senior leader of the NC (D), told Nepalnews that the officials denied the visiting Indian leaders from meeting Deuba today. “They had gone to the Police Academy at Maharajgunj to meet him but the police stopped them from doing so.”
The Indian leaders arrived in Kathmandu on Wednesday to at the invitation of the Nepali Congress party to attend its 11th general convention.
Basudev Acharya of CPI (M), Anil Shastri of the Indian National Congress, Ramesh Dixit of the Indian Nationalist Congress and DP Tripathi of the Nepal Democracy Solidarity Committee, India, had attended the opening ceremony of the NC general convention Tuesday.
Addressing at the inaugural ceremony, the Indian leaders expressed their solidarity towards Nepal’s pro-democracy movement.
