Indian security forces destroy a Maoist training center

Indian security forces have destroyed a training center in their territory allegedly being used by Indian and Nepali Maoists jointly on Friday.

Official news agency, RSS, quoted DIG of Champaran region in Bihar state of India, S. K. Bhardwaj as saying that the Indian security personnel also recovered a large amount of explosives from the site.

According to reports, Indian security personnel climbed the hill to reach to the training center located at 3500 ft in the Someshwar mountain which forms part of the Raghia range of the lower Himalayas on the Nepal border. Madi of Chitwan district and Thori of Parsa district in Nepal are connected with the area.

"We busted two bunkers on the mountain top and dug out landmines, detonators, explosives, medicines and surgical kits, a computer set and Maoist literature in a large seizure," Bagaha SP Shahrukh Majid told reporters on Saturday.

"There were two bunkers on the mountain top overlooking Nepal," the SP said, adding the Maoists had recently abandoned this training camp.

There has been no word from the Indian or Nepali Maoists so far regarding the raid on the training center. nepalnews.com by July 12 05
