NT opens distribution of new postpaid mobile phone lines
As the Nepal Telecom Workers Unions continues its protests demanding resumption of closed mobile phone services, the Nepal Telecom (NT) has announced to open distribution of new postpaid mobile lines from Tuesday.
The Telecom will also resume operation of postpaid mobile phone services in Pokhara and Biratnagar from Sunday.
“As we have received permission from the concerned authorities, we will begin distributing new postpaid mobile phones and resume operation of stalled ones,” reports quoting Madan Kaji Shakya, head of the Telecom’s New Services Department, said.
Mobile services had been suspended immediately after the royal takeover of Feb 1. However, the government had resumed 40,000 postpaid lines in Kathmandu Valley from May 2.
Until February 1, the Telecom had distributed 249,000 mobile phone lines including 173,200 prepaid lines around the country.
