UMN, SWC sign an agreement
United Mission to Nepal (UMN) and Social Welfare Council (SWC) have signed a five year agreement under which UMN has committed to a financial input to Nepal of US $ one million per year, a UMN press release said.
Dr. Prabha Basnet, member secretary of Social Welfare Council, and executive director of UMN to Nepal, Jennie Collins, signed the agreement at a ceremony organised at the SWC office in Lainchaur on Monday.
The UMN has worked in the areas of health, education, hydro-power, rural and community development and in establishing health and education institutions. During the period of this new agreement, UMN will focus on partnering with local organisations in order that they can carry out their own work more effectively. UMN’s future work will be centered in Mugu, Sunsari, Rupandehi, Rukum and Dhading districts.
The UMN, an INGO, has been serving in Nepal for the past 51 years, the statement said. nepalnews.com by July 27 05
