RCCC verdict reduces atmosphere for reconciliation: India
The Indian government has said that the recent verdict of the Royal Commission for Corruption Control (RCCC), against former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and other opposition political leaders, would further reduce the atmosphere and complicate efforts for reconciliation among political forces.
“We believe that the recent decision of the RCCC would only further vitiate the atmosphere and complicate efforts for reconciliation,” the statement issued Friday by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs’ official spokesman said reiterating India's stand that reconciliation among democratic and constitutional forces was 'imperative' so as to address the critical issues facing the Himalayan Kingdom.
Terming the controversial verdict as 'regrettable', the spokesman said, “We have noted that the ADB, which is a major financier of the project, have publicly clarified after thorough investigations that they did not find any evidence of collusion or other corrupt fraudulent practices among those involved in the bidding process for the contract.”
