Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare will chair the 19-member Council.
Ram Narayan Shrestha of Dhankuta has been designated as new Vice-Chairperson of the Council while Manjuri Singh of Kathmandu has been appointed Treasurer of the new SWC.
According to the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare (MWCSW), chairperson of House of Representatives, Social Committee, representative (social service) of National Planning Commission, Surya Mohan Bhattarai and Amar Bahadur Gurung of Kaski, Dr Sangeeta Rayamajhi and Pragya Bhandari of Kathmandu, Upendra Kesari Neupane of Child NGO Federation, Nar Bahadur Limbu of Nepal Association of the Blind, President of Disabled Assistance Fund Rakesh Hamal and representatives of the MWCSW, Ministries of Home, Local Development, Finance, Health and Population, and Education and Sports have also been designated as members of the Council.
Sharad Sharma has been designated as member-secretary of the Council, the Ministry said.
The appointments have come as non-governmental organisations have flayed the amendment in the Social Welfare Act 2049 B. S. through an ordinance saying that it aims to control the NGO community in the country and force them submit to the new regime.nepalnews.com by July 30 05
