Students demand release of their comrades
Eight student unions Sunday took to the streets demanding immediate release of their detained comrades.
According to student leaders, the demonstrators carried black flags and marched from New Baneswor to Old Baneswor chanting anti government slogans. There was no police intervention in today’s demonstrations.
Addressing the meet, joint general secretary of the NC-D affiliated Nepal Students’ Union, Kalyan Kumar Gurung, stated that the demonstration against what they call ‘authoritarian regime’ would continue.
Gurung also appealed students to take to the streets for ‘total democracy’ in the country.
Moreover, students today raised black flags in colleges in Kathmandu. According to them, they would raise black flags in all the educational institutions in the country on Monday and burn the effigies of what they call ‘authoritarian rule’ on August 5.
