RCCC asked to take action against Giri, Bista
The leaders who gave statements to the Royal Commission on Corruption Control (RCCC) on Sunday, told the Commission to take action against two deputies of the king – Tulsi Giri and Kirtinidhi Bista, as well, for receiving monetary privileges from the state coffer.
“Why only us?” Homnath Dahal, a member of the immediate past Cabinet led by the then prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba was quoted as saying in news reports.
“Is it fair that Dr Giri take Rs 960,000 and Bista take Rs 1 million through a Cabinet decision?” Dahal asked the reporters present at the Commission premises.

“If they can do so, why can’t we distribute the money to the victims?” added Dahal, who is one of persons facing allegations for irregularities in the Rs 3.8 million fund distribution as Dashain allowance by the Commission .
“If the published reports are the basis for action against former prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, then the same rule must be applicable in the case of Giri and Bista as well,” lawyers who pleaded on behalf of Deuba told the Commission.
Noteworthy, the Cabinet had recently provided Rs 960,000 and Rs 1 million to vice-chairmen Dr Giri and Bista respectively ‘for furnishing and maintenance of their residence, guard quarter and garden’.
Prevailing rules bar the government from providing over Rs 100,000 to the ministers who live outside official quarters. Bista stays in own house. nepalnews.com pd June 27 05
