Heat wave claims seven lives in Terai

At least seven persons died in a heat wave in southern Dhanusha, Rautahat, Parsa and Udaypur districts on Tuesday.

Reports from Dhanusha said three deaths occurred this afternoon in Basbisi village. All three persons died suddenly and without receiving any treatment.

Hospitals in Dhanusha and other Terai areas are witnessing increasing number of patients complaining of heat wave-related illnesses.

Similarly, in Rautahat district, two women - one in Sangrampur and the other in Basdhiluwa area - died of heat wave this afternoon. Similarly, one person each succumbed to heat spell in Udaypur and Prasa districts today.

With today’s deaths, the number of people who have died due to heat in the last two weeks has risen to 11. Earlier heat wave deaths were reported in Udaypur, Bardia and Rautahat districts.
