Curfew hours extended in Kathmandu, Lalitpur

The district administrations of Kathmandu and Lalitpur extended the night curfew by one hour on Tuesday, starting at 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.

The district administration offices (DAO) of Kathmandu and Lapitpur had imposed curfew orders within Ring Road from 11:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. with effect from Monday.

The curfew orders came two days after simultaneous Maoist attacks on two police posts in suburban Kathmandu and Bhaktapur districts, killing 12 security men and injuring half a dozen others.

The DAOs in their notices said the security forces have been allowed to shoot anybody trying to break the curfew orders.

Meanwhile, curfew orders were imposed in a number of urban centers outside Kathmandu on Tuesday.

According to state-owned Radio Nepal, district administrations of Dhading, Kaski, Doti, Surkhet and Bardiya imposed indefinite night curfew in district headquarters and major highways with effect from today. nepalnews.com mk Jan 17 05
