Government sets up Camp Coordinator's Office
The government has set up the Camp Management Central Coordinator's Office (CMCCO) at the peace secretariat, Singhdurbar.
A press release issued by the Home Ministry said, the office headed by a first class office, is entrusted to coordinate and manage Maoist camps.
The government formed the CMCCO after Maoist combatants agreed to confine their combatants into seven cantonments until the elections of the constituent assembly.
Maoist combatants have started gathering at the proposed cantonment sites to ease the process of verifying the rebels and the arms as per the November 8 agreement between the ruling seven party alliance and the Maoists.
As per the peace accord, signed yesterday evening, Maoist combatants confined in the cantonments would be able to case vote in the elections of the constituent assembly, but they did not have the rights to be involved in political activities. nepalnews.com pb Nov 22 06
