JTMM-Goit to disrupt CA polls

Jaya Krishna Goit led faction of the Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (JTMM) has said that it has abducted Saptari District Education Officer (DEO), Nibh Raj Joshi, as part of its warning to disrupt the upcoming constituent assembly (CA) poll.

According to media reports, Saptari coordinator of the JTMM-Goit, Shyam, informed that Joshi was abducted to send the signal that there was no need of holding the constituent assembly polls as the Terai region is independent and has been declared so.

Saying that there is no need of a constituent assembly for the people of Terai origin, Shyam said they abducted Joshi after he did not meet their demand of providing Rs. 5 million for the JTMM’s people’s war.

The ruling eight political parties have agreed to hold the elections of the constituent assembly on 20th June.

The faction has been involved in violent protests in the region demanding an independent Terai state.

Meanwhile, the Jwala Singh led faction of JTMM has said it has no policy to hinder the ongoing SLC examinations.

Central member of the faction, Ranabir Singh denounced the abduction of DEO Joshi by the Goit faction of JTMM.

“I appeal to the Goit faction for DEO Joshi’s immediate release,” he added. He further said that Indian dacoits are involved in the kidnapping of Murali Singh, Chief of Siraha Hospital.

An unidentified group Tuesday kidnapped Singh from Rajbiraj. nepalnews.com pb Apr 09 07
