Terai bandh affects normal life
Normal life in eastern and central Terai has been affected due to the bandh (shutdown) called by Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (JTMM), Jwala Singh faction, on Monday.
Highways and other roads in Morang, Siraha, Saptari, Dhanusha and Mahottari districts remain deserted while industries and marketplaces have closed. Other businesses have also been affected.
Passengers travelling to longer distances have been stranded at various places as buses are off the road due to fear of attack by Jwala Singh's group.
The JTMM called the bandh calling it a 'public holiday' to mark the 'liberation' of Terai.
Though the rebel group has allowed the ongoing SLC examinations in the Terai districts students had to walk hours to reach their exam centres. nepalnews.com ia Apr 09 07
