VDC secys suspend their agitation

In view of the approaching Constituent Assembly (CA) election, the Village Development Committee (VDC) secretaries have suspended their agitation till the election.

The meeting of the VDC Rights Protection Center held on Monday decided to suspend their indefinite agitation since they need to be mobilised to conduct the election and play crucial role at local level in the run up to the November election. They also decided to stop the agitation for the time being since the government had assured to fulfill their demands.

The VDC secretaries had been refraining from conducting tasks that were earlier assigned for the political representatives demanding appointment of the political mechanism to handle the local bodies.

Bhawani Prasad Ghimire, president of the Center, said they had decided to suspend their agitation so that there will not be any obstruction for the CA election. nepalnews.com sd Aug 28 07
