9 JTMM cadres, 7 Maoists arrested in Siraha; Jwala’s men abduct VDC secy

Police have arrested nine cadres of Jwala Singh-led Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (JTMM) and seven Maoists in separate raids in Siraha district Tuesday night.

A patrolling team of the Armed Police Force (APF) arrested nine JTMM-Jwala cadres from Bishnupurkatti area. They were caught with a Chinese pistol and bullets.

In a similar raid at Phalakakatti VDC last night, the APF team rounded up seven Maoist cadres. Those arrested include former head of the Maoist ‘district people’s government’, Bishnu Bidhyadhar, Ananta Kumar Yadav, Shambhu Choudhary, Bishnu Dev Yadav and Bijay Thakur.

The APF team also seized two pistols, one homemade gun and ammunitions from them.

Meanwhile, in the same district, Jwala Singh’s cadres have abducted the secretary of Pokharbhinta VDC, Dhruba Prasad Sha. Reports say a group of armed JTMM cadres abducted him last evening for refusing to pay tax to ‘Terai government’.
