Owing to growing demand and receding supply, the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has announced increment in the hours of load shedding beginning Tuesday.
According to Sher Singh Bhat, chief of the Load Dispatch Center of NEA, due to decrease in water flow in rivers because of winter, the supply has decreased.
As a result the weekly load shedding hours have been increased from four to six. From Tuesday onwards, each household will face three hours of power cuts twice a week.
The load shedding hours has been fixed at between 5 pm to 8 pm in the evening for Kathmandu Valley and 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm outside valley.
The NEA expects that load shedding hours will have to be further increased in coming weeks.
At present, the demand has reached to over 700 MW while supply has come down to 550 MW. nepalnews.com sd Dec 18 07
