NFIN to sit for talks with government, continue protest
The Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NFIN) has decided to sit for talks with the government to discuss their demands.
Saturday’s secretariat meeting of the NFIN has decided to form a talks team to hold talks today. NFIN informed that it has decided to hold talks with the government after it received formal letter from the government calling for dialogue.
President of NFIN, Pasang Sherpa informed that the talks and their protest programme would go on side by side.
The NFIN has announced a series of protest programmes till February 28. The NFIN also informed that it is organizing Khukuri rally in the capital on Monday as part of its protest programme.
The NFIN has called a valley bandh on February 15; Bheri, Karnali, Seti and Mahakali bandh on February 18; Rapti, Lumbini and western part of Narayani on February 20; Gandaki and Dhaulagiri on February 22; Eastern Narayani, Janakpur and Sagarmatha on February 24 and Mechi and Koshi bandh on February 26. The NFIN also decided to call Nepal bandh on February 28, the last day of their protest programme of the first phase.
Sherpa further said that the federation has taken talks as a front of the struggle and would take both the talks and struggle side by side. nepalnews.com pb Feb 11 07
