Eight-hour curfew imposed in Lahan
The local administration in Siraha district has imposed curfew in Lahan and surrounding areas from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm on Wednesday.
The District Administration Office (DAO) said the curfew was imposed in view of possible violence in the town that has witnessed violence in the last few days. Reports quoted DAO officials as saying that normalcy is returning in the area and that the curfew would be relaxed gradually.
An eight-hour long curfew in Lahan ended at 4:00 am today.
At least five people have died and dozens others wounded in violent clashes during demonstrations organised by Madhesi Janadhikar Forum in Siraha since Friday. nepalnews.com mk Jan 24 07
