Maoists say the govt policies are only 'so-so'
A senior Maoist leader has said that his party is not encouraged by the government's policies and programmes.
Maoist leader Dinanath Sharma said, "The policies are status-quoist with only some progressive thinking."
Sharma said he wants to term the policies as 'transitional' one. "There are many lapses in the policies but it has come through understanding," Sharma added. The current government includes eight parties including the Maoists.
He said that the policies ought to have clearly laid down the objective to establish republic in the country. He also criticised the economic policies saying it was foreign-dependent one.
Meanwhile, other political leaders have given mixed reaction to the policies and programmes presented in the parliament on Wednesday.
Bamdev Gautam, senior leader of Unified Marxist Leninist (UML), said the policies were quite positive. "The emphasis on Constituent Assembly elections is very positive," he said.
