EC discusses polls preparations with ministers
As a part of series of interactions with various stakeholders, Election Commission (EC), on Wednesday, held discussion with the ministers at its office in Kantipath.
Government's preparedness for the polls, the future plans of the government and code of conduct prepared by the commission for the election purpose were the major subjects discussed during the meeting. The code of conduct becomes effective three-months prior to the date of polls. After the code of conduct is enforced, the government is not allowed to carry out any political or important decisions.
Most of the ministers attended the meeting on Wednesday.
On the occasion, chief election commissioner Bhojraj Pokharel asked the ministers to activate all the government organs for the support of the polls and sought the government's preparedness for the polls.
He also expressed concern about the security situation and urged the government to find solutions to the demands raised by various agitating groups so that conducive environment would be created for the polls.
