Arghakhanchi bandh withdrawn

The Maoists have withdrawn their indefinite bandh in Arghakhanchi district from Thursday morning.

Issuing a statement, district secretary of the Maoists Ujjwal said that the bandh was withdrawn in view of troubles faced by the local people.

The statement, however, adds that the Maoists will not allow resumption of jeep services in the district.

The Maoists had imposed bandh in the district after their cadres clashed with local jeep operators on Tuesday night.

Ten persons had been injured in the clash between Maoists and jeep operators. The clash occurred following quarrel among jeep drivers and Maoist cadres on a minor issue – when one of the jeep drivers failed to 'give side' to a bus carrying Maoist cadres. The district administration was forced to clamp overnight curfew on Tuesday in district headquarters Sandhikharka. nepalnews.com sd Nov 01 07
