Court orders detention of four Sept 2 blast accused

The Kathmandu District Court today ordered the detention of four persons accused of carrying out the triple blasts in Kathmandu on Sept 2.

A single bench of judge Narayan Prasad Dahal decided to allow the police authorities to detain the four accused - Jagat Narayan Thakur alias Jaya Narayan of Rautahat district, Upendra Shah, Ram Lakhan Shah and Sanjib Sharma of Bara district – during the course of their trial at the court.

Police had filed cases against nine persons at the district court accusing them of involvement in the serial blasts that killed three persons and injured over two dozen others during the evening rush hour.

Four other suspects are at large while one suspect named Mr. Khan had died during a police chase in Rautahat recently.

Police have said they have launched manhunt to track down the absconding suspects including the ‘mastermind’ of the blasts, Kaushal Sahani alias Mr. John, the leader of a little known outfit called Terai Army, which claimed responsibility for the terror strike. nepalnews.com mk Nov 01 07
