YCL abducts two persons from ministry premises, releases them after beating

The Maoist aligned Young Communist League (YCL) cadres on Thursday mercilessly beat up two people who they forcefully captured from the premises of Ministry of Local Development before finally releasing them, reports Kantipur Daily.

According to police, some 10 YCL cadres who had come in a Bolero jeep with registration number Ba 5 Pa at around 2 pm captured construction entrepreneur Ram Kumar Ghimire and his neighbour Shiva Thapa from the premises of the Pulchowk located ministry and while beating them, forced them into their jeep. Before the policemen guarding the gates of the ministry could do anything to free the two persons, the Maoists vehicle sped past the gate. Thereafter the two were taken to Maoists district office located in Ekantakuna.

The two later said that they were severely beaten up inside the party office. They told the paper that they were taken to a dark empty room inside the building and for more than half hour, three YCL cadres beat them with sticks and showered kicks and punches at them.

After the Maoists released the two an hour after taking them in their custody, the police team lead by Inspector Sharad Thapa of the Lalitpur police had rushed them to Alka Hospital for medical treatment. Due to excessive beating, the condition of Ghimire, who hails from Siudeni-4, Okharpauwa in Nuwakot district, is very serious while that of Thapa is stable.

Owning up the responsibility for the incident, YCL said that they were compelled to take such an action against the two because they were involved in ‘hooliganism’ inside the ministry.

YCL district secretary Biswas said that they acted on complaints that Ghimire and Thapa had roughed up two contractors who had gone to the ministry to buy tender forms for the three kilometer connecting road in Okharpauwa dumping site for which the Waste Management and Resource Management Department under the Ministry of Local Development had invited bids. nepalnews.com ag Nov 02
