The possibility of another gas shortage during the festive season has been averted as talks between gas companies and Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) produced an understanding Friday to resume supply of LP cooking gas.

The meeting also decided to form a seven-member committee to study the 10-point demand of the gas companies and recommend the appropriate ones for implementation within a month. The committee will comprise three members each from the association and NOC management and one NOC board member.

The LP gas companies had stopped the import and distribution of gas since Thursday in order to apply pressure on the NOC for fulfillment of their 10-point demand.
