Cabinet decides to formulate strict law on abduction

A meeting of the council of ministers held at the PMO in Singha Durbar Monday morning decided to formulate law on abduction, with provisions that will empower the government to take stern against individuals involved in kidnappings.

The initiation comes amidst growing protest over lack of concern from the government in the abduction of journalist Birendra Shah of Bara, allegedly by the Maoists a month ago.
