Nepal captured center stage in Naturiva 2007, Spain
Nepal successfully participated in NATURIVA 2007, a famous Travel and Outdoor Sports Expo, in Madrid, Spain from November 2 to 4.
Nepal Pavilion, decorated in a typical Nepali style with Swayambhu image and pati-pauwa, and cultural dances performed by the Nepal Artists was a major attraction of the show which saw more than 12 thousand visitors over the three day period, said a press release issued by Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). Pashmina, handicrafts, and wooden arts were also exhibited and sold out.
The presence of the Minister of Culture and Tourism Prithvi Subba Gurung, who also inaugurated the show on November 2 and was also the chief guest of various other events of the fair, and NTB's Director Mr. Subash Nirola, made Nepal's participation more important amongst Spanish Tour Operators and Media.
"Nepal got a very right forum to promote its adventure and rural attractions in European market, as the exhibition itself was adventure and rural tourism specific. In addition Nepal also got a good coverage in print and electronic media of this region. The visitors acquired many information about trekking, mountaineering and cultural attractions of Nepal," the release said.
Nepal was the partner country of this NATURIVA 2007. More than 600 exhibitors of trekking and ski-equipments, rural tourism destinations, hotels-resorts, and tourism offices had exhibited their goods and services. Nepal's participation in the fair was managed by Nepal Pavilion Company and the Fair was organised by Exevia Madrid. nepalnews.com Nov 07 07
