NAC takes PAC officials on a trip
Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has taken a team from Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on a trip to Malaysia and Singapore for “inspection of the corporation’s spare parts”.
The ten-member team led by PAC chairman Pari Thapa had left for Malaysia Monday night on a six-day trip fully sponsored by NAC. The corporation is also providing a daily allowance of US $ 200 to each of the 10-member team including air fares and hotel bills for the entire trip.
Chairman Thapa told Kantipur that the main objective of the visit was to inspect the corporation’s spare parts that remains with various companies in Singapore and also to inspect NAC’s services in Kuala Lumpur.
The fully sponsored trip of PAC officials has raised some eyebrows, with some parliamentarians terming it unethical, as the committee is investigating a controversial decision by NAC managing director Gautam Das Shrestha to allow Ameco, a Chinese company, to overhaul two Boeing 757 engines.
PAC has entrusted the committee to submit its report within 15 days. nepalnews.com ag Nov 13 07
