Fuel shortage hits again
Following a brief respite after the hike in their prices, the scarcity of fuel has once again hit the consumers as demands are fast outstripping the supply.
According to reports, while Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has said that it is importing 2500 to 3000 kiloliters of petroleum products from Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) daily, the demand in the market has risen to 4200 kiloliters a day.
Subsequently, the NOC's stock is dwindling fast. It used to keep 60,000 kiloliters of fuel as stock but this volume has come down to around 15000 kiloliters.
"Our stock can hardly cater to demands for five days," NOC executive director Digambar Jha told Nepal Samacharpatra daily.
Meanwhile, since international price of crude oil is escalating, the NOC's loss has raced beyond Rs 280 million a month despite recent price hike. nepalnews.com sd Nov 14 07
