The government has honoured 33 business personalities involved in export, overseas import and private institutions owners with Commercially Important Persons (CIPs) award for this year.
Krishna Prasad Sitaula, taking charge of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, presented the awards and special two-year passes to the business personalities on Wednesday. The special passes entitle the winners to receive special state facilities like lounge at Tribhuvan International Airport.
JD Apparels and Rara Apparels was given CIP under the readymade garment category, while owners of Samling Carpet, Paramount Carpet and Pioneer Carpet won CIP awards under the woolen carpet category, Exclusive Fabrics won the CIP award for pashmina and Shree Krishna Oil Refinery received the award as the largest exporter of vegetable ghee.
Similarly, Arihanta Multifibers and Dabur Nepal won the awards under the jute and toiletry categories respectively and Arati Strips under metal items exports.
The Gap, Inc, USA, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc, USA, Ludwig Wissenbach GmbH, Germany, Peppich Kibek-GmbH, Germany and The Cashmere Co, UK have also been award the CIP for their leading role in exports of Nepali garments, woolen carpets and pashmina items.
Nepali companies New Himalayan Akash Exports, Krishna Pashmina Art, Asiatic Traders and Exports, Narayani Leather Manufacturing, Yak and Yeti Enterprise and HLK Private Limited were also awarded with the CIP as leading exporters.
Plum Traders Inc, Canada, Leather M Trading, China, Mac McCoy (dZi - The Tibet Collection), US, Protolano Products Inc, Canada and Nature ET Decouvertes were honoured as important importers.
Heads of the six business groups like Federation of Nepali Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI), Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC), Confederation of Nepali Industries (CNI), Garment Association Nepal (GAN), Nepal Carpet Exporters Association (NCEA) and Central Carpet Industries Association (CCIA) have also been given the awards.
Cotton Comfort won the Export Excellence Award (EEA) as country's largest exporter of readymade goods to third-country in the fiscal year 2004/5. The company made transactions worth Rs 468.12 million during the year. Likewise, Paramount Carpet, Yak and Yeti Enterprises, HLKP Limited, Asiatic Traders, Exporters and Arati Strips and Krishna Pashmina Arts were given this prestigious award under different categories.
Import Excellence Awards were given to GAP, Inc of the USA, Ludwig Wissenbach GmbH of Germany, Protolano Products, Inc of Canada, Plum Traders, Inc of Canada and Nature Et Decouvertes of France. nepalnews.com ia Nov 15 07
