A team formed to draft rules on working journalists

The government has formed a team to draft rules to implement the Working Journalists Act.

The team is headed by Shiva Gaunle, vice president of Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) and includes Prateek Pradhan, editor of The Kathmandu Post, and Ujjwal Sharma, publisher of Himalaya Times, as members. An under secretary at the Ministry of Information and Communication, Rajendra Nepal, has been picked as the member secretary of the team.

The team will have to draft the rules within 15 days.

The last regular session of the parliament had passed the first amendment of the Working Journalists Act. As such, a need was widely felt to amend the existing Working Journalists Rules. nepalnews.com sd Nov 17 07
