Parliament’s winter session begins Monday
The regular winter session of the interim parliament is to start from Monday amidst deadlock over the proposals passed by the special session early this month.
According to Speaker Subas Nemwang, all necessary preparations for the winter session, which will start at 3 pm, have been completed. Talking to state-owned Radio Nepal, Nemwang said the main focus of the winter session would on forging political consensus and prepare the grounds for conducting constituent assembly election at the earliest.
Forging consensus on implementing of the House directive would also be an important task to be undertaken by the winter session, he added.
Hectic political parleys at multiple levels have not been fruitful in narrowing down the differences between the Nepali Congress. While the Nepali Congress appears unwilling to soften its position vis-à-vis the two proposals, the Maoists have said they would push for a new government leadership if the proposals are not implemented. nepalnews.com mk Nov 18 07
