Maoist leaders leaving for US today

Maoist lawmaker Janardan Sharma ‘Prabhakar’ is leaving for United States of America Monday evening to take part in the United Nations General Assembly.

Prabhakar is also the deputy commander of the Maoists' People's Liberation Army (PLA).

Also accompanying him in this visit are Maoist MP Nanda Kumar Prasai and Maoist leader Suresh Ale Magar who had earlier been denied visa to America.

This is the first time the US Embassy in Kathmandu has issued visas to Maoist leaders to travel despite the fact that CPN-Maoist is still listed as a terrorist organisation by the US government . nepalnews.com ag Nov 19 07
