Maoists seize Kamal Thapa’s property in Hetauda
The Maoists have captured three houses and 10 katthas of land belonging to former royalist minister Kamal Thapa.
According to Rastriya Samachar Samiti, thousands of Maoist cadres staged a rally in Hetauda Municipality before announcing the seizure of Thapa's houses, one at Bhairab Road in Ward no. 5 and another at Rajpath in Ward no. 4.
During the royal regime, the offices of the regional administration and land survey were stationed in Thapa’s houses.
Maoist district leader Prahlad Lamichhane said they had captured the houses because Thapa, who has been accused of suppressing the Janandolan-2, was preparing to sell the properties at Rs 12 million.
Earlier, the Maoists had announced that they would take action against those pointed out by the Rayamajhi Commission in corruption and suppression of Janandolan-2. nepalnews.com mk Nov 19 07
