Maoists shut down Siraha, MSF announces bandh in Malangawa
The CPN-Maoist has shut Siraha district for an indefinite period demanding immediate release of two of its cadres who were arrested by the on Monday.
Educational institutions, market places and transport throughout the district remain closed since early morning due to the bandh.
The Ilaka police post in Lahan had arrested Juri Thakur and Hari Narayan Paswan on Monday on charges of their involving in murder of a local resident, Ananda Kumar Yadav. Police said complaints have been filed against them.
Thakur is Ilaka committee member of the Maoist party while Paswan is associated with the Young Communist League (YCL).
Similarly, the Madhesi Student Forum, called bandh in Malangawa Bazaar in Sarlahi district protesting the arrest of one of its members on Monday. The forum demanded unconditional release of its member.
In the meantime, the government has tightened security in Lahan and Siraha municipalities from Monday. No reasons have been given but security rings have been created in the municipality area. nepalnews.com ia Nov 20 07
