Gupta appointed industry minister

Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala today appointed Shyam Sundar Gupta, general secretary of Nepal Sadbhawana Party (Anandi Devi), as Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies.

The ministerial post had been vacant since nearly two months after then industry minister Rajendra Mahato quit owning to differences within the party. Mahato then went on to form a separate party which goes by the same name, NSP (Anandi Devi).

After his resignation, Koirala had given the portfolio to Home Minister Krishna Prasad Situala.

Prime Minister Koirala administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly appointed minister this afternoon. nepalnews.com mk Nov 20 07
