PM discusses security issues with army chief
Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala discussed the current security situation of the country with Chief of Army Staff Rookmangud Katawal Monday morning.
The Directorate of Public Relation of the army has said this was a regular briefing on the country's security situation and the internal matters of the army.
Koirala, who also holds the defence portfolio, is also learnt to have inquired with Kawatal about the security arrangements during an 'unexpected' trip by King Gyanendra to Basantapur last evening to receive tika from ‘living Goddess’ Kumari.
King Gyanendra had visited Basantapur, as a commoner, soon after Koirala returned from there after receiving tika from Kumari.
Reports said the security agencies had tough time arranging security during the sudden visit of King Gyanendra who has been stripped of almost all his rights.
Prime Minister Koirala, who is also the de facto head of the state, has been attending important cultural ceremonies the King used to attend earlier. nepalnews.com mk Oct 01 07
