Prisoners across the country on fast unto death demanding release
Inmates in jails across the country are into the fourth day of their indefinite hunger strike Monday raising serious concerns over their health condition.
The prisoners say that they would continue with their fast unto death till the government releases them after giving them ‘public pardon’.
In the course, four prisoners from Dillibazar Jail in Kathmandu had to be rushed to the hospital today morning after their health condition deteriorated due to days of fasting. The jail authorities said that they have now been admitted in the hospital and their condition is stable.
Saying that like the way ‘political prisoners’ got public pardon after the restoration of democracy those who are in jail for various criminal charges should also be entitled for pardon, prisoners from jails across the country had been organising various protest programmes in the jails against this kind of ‘prejudice’.
Reports say that the health condition of prisoners from Rajbiraj and Birgunj has also deteriorated because of the hunger strike. nepalnews.com ag Oct 01 07
