Home Ministry promises security to Kantipur

Issuing a statement on Tuesday, the Home Ministry has denounced the vandalism and obstructive activities by pro-Maoist workers in the Kantipur Publication.

The Ministry has promised that adequate security will be provided to the Publication. It has said that the Ministry has directed local administration to ensure such security.

The Ministry has also said that the action by the pro-Maoist workers have violated the right to information act passed recently by the government.

It denounced the vandalism of private vehicle and press of the Kantipur Publications.

Due to the obstruction by the workers, the two dailies of the Publication – Kantipur and The Kathmandu Post – have failed to hit the news stands.

Meanwhile, Finance Minister Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat and Minister of State for Labour and Transport Management Ramesh Lekhak visited the Publication office to express their solidarity with the free press. Likewise, a delegation of Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) also visited the office to express their concern at the plight of a private media enterprise. nepalnews.com sd Oct 02 07
