Businessman shot dead

Unidentified assailants on Wednesday shot dead a businessman at Tenuhawa chowk in Tenhawa VDC of Rupandehi district.

According to police, Paras Pathak, 50, a resident of Piparhawa-6, Kapilvastu was shot dead while he was returning home on his motorcycle after withdrawing Rs 2,88,000 from a money exchange in Bhairhawa. Pathak, a grain dealer in Chaklachauda, had died immediately after being shot on his forehead by the assailants.

The assailants also made away with the money Pathak had withdrawn from the money exchange, making it apparent that the murder was committed for the money.

Rupandehi superintendent of police Ravi Raj Shrestha said Pathak had been staying in the city of Aligarh in India after receiving repeated death threats from the Maoists. Two years ago, the Maoists had shot dead Pathak's son. nepalnews.com ag Oct 04 07
