Maoist trade union signs deal with Kantipur management
The leader of Maoist-affiliated trade union has signed a deal with the Kantipur Publications on Thursday morning to end weeklong disruption in the media house.
The deal was signed by president of All Nepal Trade Union Federation Shalikram Jamarkattel and managing director of Publications Kailash Sirohiya. They signed the agreement in presence of Maoist chairman Prachanda and senior leader Dr. Baburam Bhattarai.
The 4-point deal paves the way for smooth resumption of printing, publishing and distribution of Kantipur and The Kathmandu Post dailies.
The two sides have also agreed to hold talks on Monday to discuss workers' issues. They agreed to take initiatives to free the pro-Maoists workers arrested by police for disrupting the newspaper publication. Likewise, the Publication has also agreed to withdraw cases filed against some workers and has also withdrawn the decision to discharge some of them. nepalnews.com sd Oct 04 07
