Diarrhea causing havoc in Terai
Serious outbreaks of diarrhea have caused much havoc in the villages of few terai districts of Nepal from the past couple of weeks, claiming a number of lives mainly due to lack of proper medical treatment.
Four persons died in Rautahat district after suffering from severe diarrhea over the past one week.
Those who have died due to the disease have been identified as three-year-old Manita Kumari of Basantapur VDC, 14-month-old Sanju Kumari of Piprabhagwanpur VDC, 12-year old Rejina Kumari of Gamhariya VDC and Baniya Devi Tharu, 45, of Dumariya VDC-8. Reports said hundreds of people in the district have also fallen ill due to diarrhea with health experts fearing that the death toll in the district could further rise.
Similarly, ten persons have died so far in a diarrhea outbreak in Dhanusha district within a month. The District Publict Health Office said that more than 20 villages of the district have been affected by diarrhea. Diarrhea epidemic has also affected other Terai districts like Bara and Parsa districts
