Maoists to renew dialogue with parties for republic
Describing the suspension of constituent assembly polls as a timely move, the CPN (Maoist) has decided to intensify discussions with the six parties in order to forge consensus for a parliamentary proclamation to turn Nepal a republic.
A meeting of the central secretariat of the Maoist party held Saturday afternoon took the decision.
Maoist leader Janardan Sharma ‘Prabhakar’ told reporters after the meeting held at Garden Hotel in Thamel that the party would continue dialogue with the leaders of the six parties to forge consensus for announcement of republic from the special session of the parliament.
The party has also decided to organise mass rallies across the country on Oct 11, when the special session of the parliament commences, to pressurise the parties to declare republic.
Meanwhile, a prescheduled meeting between Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and Maoist chairman Prachanda could not take place in the morning as the Maoist side decided to start political parleys only after the decisions of the secretariat meeting. nepalnews.com mk Oct 06 07
