Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala administered the oath of office and secrecy to the CJ amid a ceremony held at the National Planning Commission auditorium.
The Prime Minister Koirala, who chairs the Judicial Council, had appointed Giri as the CJ on Thursday.
Meanwhile, organising a press conference after being sworn in, CJ Giri expressed commitment to give high priority to cases of national importance and substantially reduce the backlog in courts during his tenure.
