Congress CWC discusses party’s role in special House session
A meeting of the central working committee of the Nepali Congress on Monday discussed the party’s role in the special session of the Interim Legislature Parliament, which is to begin on Oct 11.
According to NC leader Arjun Narsingh K.C, the CWC members commented on how the party should present itself in the special session of the parliament, which is expected to see a proposal from the CPN (Maoist) to declare Nepal a republic.
He said the leaders also gave their views on the political scenario after the suspension of the constituent assembly elections and the ramifications of the poll deferral. However, no decision was taken at today's meeting.
The CWC meeting, held first time after the party unification, will resume on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, NC leader Sujata Koirala told reporters that most of the CWC members who spoke at the meeting were against the Maoist demand to announce republic from the parliament. They also complained about the deteriorating security situation in the country, she added.
She also claimed that most of the central committee members wanted Home Minister Krishna Situala, who is an influential leader of the NC, to quit his post on moral grounds as he has failed to maintain law and order. nepalnews.com mk Oct 08 07
